Mexicans Step Up Patrols At The Border
posted (March 21, 2012)
According to a news report coming out of Mexico, the Mexican military has stepped up surveillance and manpower at the Belize-Mexico Border and in the "Subtiniente Lopez" area.

The report states that for the past 15 days, elements of the Mexican Navy have been deployed to the border where motorists are being checked at random to prevent the entry of drugs and ammunition into Mexico from Belize.

The report adds that the officers at the checkpoint are equipped with sophisticated equipment to detect stolen cars or overlapping plates.

The added surveillance proved fruitful on Monday when a shipment of Taiwanese cigars was allegedly being smuggled into Mexico from the Free Zone.
