Two More Women Shot In City; Four Females In Four Days

And while that was Orange Walk - the violence in the city did not abate last night - as two women were shot - becoming the third and fourth females to be shot in four days.

The shootings happened a few hours apart on separate ends of Vernon Street.

We start with the second shooting, where 18 year-old Kenesha Humes was shot in the right leg just above the knee joint.

We caught up to her this evening and she told us about how the incident unfolded.

According to her, at around 11:55 p.m., 2 masked gunmen rode up and fired a barrage of gunshots at her friends who were socializing - as they usually do - in front of her house, which is located at #4542 Vernon Street.

"2 boys were coming down the street with rags on their face, and when the pulled out the guns, that's when we ran."

"Tell me, how did you get shot?"

"I got shot when I got up and ran."

"But you don't believe that you were the intended target."

"No sir."

"Have you ever had anything like this happen to you before?"

"About what time was this?"

"After 11 o'clock."

"What were you guys doing?"

"We were just talking out there."

"have you ever seen anybody like this come around this who looks suspicious, and would want to attack anybody in your group who you were speaking to?"

"No."

"How long were you guys out here?"

"We are always out here until late."

Humes' injury was not life-threatening, and she told us that she was released from the hospital last night after she received treatment. According to the residents, another young man from the group, Bryan Stuart, also suffered a minor gunshot injury to the right foot.

And a three hours before that, at around 8:40 p.m. 21, year-old Carrie Wade was socializing in front of a residence at # 9 Vernon Street. That's when a lone gunman rode up on bicycle off Mosul Street and fire several shots at her, which hit her in right upper thigh and right leg.

She was admitted to the KHMH in stable condition.

And finally, according to police, at around news times yesterday, 4 young men were socializing on Ordonez Avenue when 3 men rode pass them on separate bicycles.

One of the men pulled out a gun and fired 5 shots at the group, but fortunately, no one was hit.
