posted (June 13, 2012)
Police Corporal #1023 Mark Roches is spending his first night behind bars after he was convicted of theft in the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith.

Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood, the officer who caught the man in the act, testified for the prosecution this evening that on November 20, at around 2:15 p.m., he was in the compound of the Raccoon Street Police Station.

He said that he spotted PC Roches removing a battery from the back of a black Lifan scooter, which was parked in the compound.

Yearwood continued further that PC Roches then took the battery behind the police station, and that's when he was reported.

With the strength of Yearwood's testimony, Chief Magistrate Smith found Roches guilty of the charge because the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Roches will spend 9 months for this conviction.
