Quick Police Work Nabs Robbers In Cayo

Tonight Cayo Police have 2 men in custody, and they are held pending charges for the Last week Friday morning's robbery of a Chinese businessman in San Ignacio.

One of the men accused of the robbery was recently employed at the establishment, and in fact, he quit earlier in the day.

According to police, Jin Huang Mad, a 50 year-old businessman was at his establishment called Chen's Super Store when 2 men with handkerchiefs over their faces stormed in.

The men robbed Mad at knifepoint of $200 in cash, a laptop computer, and assorted phone cards.

Quick police response led to the detention of the 2 assailants, along with the recovery of all the stolen items - all done by 2 in the afternoon.

Those men are Gian Espat of Santa Elena, who quit his job at the store the very same morning of the robbery, and 20 year old William Ralda a Guatemalan.

Police investigations then led them to the residence of 19 year old Ma-en Quiroz of San Ignacio - where all the stolen items were recovered.

Both men are expected to be charged jointly with robbery, and Quiroz is expected to also be charged with handling stolen goods.
