A Theme to Remember For September
posted (June 25, 2012)
The theme for this year's September Celebrations has been decided upon. It is: "Many Faces, Many Dreams, One Goal - Celebrating Belize."

IT was selected from 191 entries, and today the winner told us what inspired her:

Emogen Ramclam
"The winning theme is "Many faces, many dreams, but one goal; celebrating Belize." I heard the news about the competition and I didn't really jump on it but after watching the news every night you hear about all the crime and violence and I guess after hearing Jasmine Lowe - went she went missing I said you know what we need to do something. We need peace in our country, what can I do and I said my first step would be submitting a theme based on peace. I went to sleep and idea started popping up in my head and I got up and I wrote down several themes. I came and ask my sister what she thought about it and she told me which one she preferred. I submitted the theme and that was the one that won."

"They laid down the criteria for submission and I look at it and I said, the many faces speak about all our ethnic groups; the Creole, Maya, East Indian, Mennonite and the rest. The many dreams is simply telling us that we all aspire to be something, to become someone and celebrating Belize - we need to take a positive note, if we appreciate what we have right here maybe we will see a little change. We need to celebrate Belize, we have a lot to be thankful for."

Emogen Ramclam will receive her one thousand dollar prize at the official opening of the Celebrations on September Second.
