Special Branch Again!

Recently in the Newscast, we've been reporting on the consistent busts being made by Special Branch and the Gang Suppression Unit. Well, this weekend it was the Special; Branch doing a thing.

On Friday, at around 6:15 p.m., SB personnel conducted a search at the residence of 31 year-old Nigel Eric Murray, located at #7056 Raccoon Street Extension. This led to the discovery on a black garbage bag which contained 650 grams - over a pound - of cannabis. As a result, he was charged with drug trafficking.

He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith today on the charge where it was discovered that he owed the court fines of $775. He was granted bail of $1,000 which he will unable to meet until after he has paid those fines. His case was adjourned to February 5, 2013.

On Friday at around 8:45 p.m., a search was conducted based on Special Branch information in an empty lot on Antelope Street Exension. It resulted in the discovery of 12 Parcels of cannabis to a total weight of 1.94 kilos - or 4.28 pounds - of cannabis, and 123 grams of compressed hydro. No one was in the immediate area, so the drugs were labeled as found property.

At around 10:30 p.m. that same night, based of SB information, a search was conducted on an abandoned lot situated on Gill Street, which led to the discovery of a black plastic bag, which contained 62 live rounds of 9mm ammunition. No one was in the immediate area, so ammunition was labeled as found property.

SB believes that the ammunition belongs to the Gill Street Bloods gang, which operates in the area. On Saturday, at around 3:00 p.m., based on SB information, Police moved along alone another empty lot and discovered 138 grams of cannabis. No one was in the area, so the drugs were deposited as found property.

Half hour later, based on Special Branch information, police, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, conducted a search on an empty lot in Pinks Alley, which led to the discovery of an orange Orion brand flare gun and 6 orange flare gun cartridges. No one was in the area, so they were deposited as found property.

Later that same day, based on SB information, another search was conducted in an abandoned lot on Partridge Street Extension, which led to the discovery of 182 grams of cannabis. No one was in the area, so the drugs were deposited as found property.

At around 10:30 p.m., based on SB information, a search was conducted on an abandoned lot on Neal Penn Road Extension, which led to the discovery of a black 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 6 live rounds of ammunition. No one was in the area, so the items were deposited as found property.

And in the last find of the weekend, on Sunday, at around 7 p.m., based on SB information, police conducted a search on an abandoned lot in the St. Martin's Area, which led to the discovery of a Harington and Richardson 16 gauge sawed off shot gun, a black plastic bag which contained 7 live 12 gauge cartridges, and a live 16 gauge cartridge. Because no one was in the area, the items were deposited as found property.

The Special Branch believes that these arms belong to the Peace in the Village gang, which operates in the area.
