18 Year Old Accused Of Shooting Minors

Tonight, 18 year-old Akeem Augustine, a resident of La Croix Boulevard, is in jail because according to police he shot at 4 young men - two of them minors. One of them is 16 and he told police that on Tuesday evening around 6:00, he was hanging out at the corner of Police Street and La Croix Boulevard with 3 other young men.

He and a 15 year old decided to go to a nearby shop, but on the way there, they ran into Augustine and 2 other men who started chasing them. The 16 year old said that, Augustine pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the entire group. Fortunately, they all escaped unhurt, and Augustine and his associates escaped while they were taking cover.

Police investigated and charged Augustine with 4 counts of attempted murder, 1 count of conspiracy to commit murder, and 4 counts of aggravated assault.

He was arraigned today before Magistrate Adolph Lucas, and due to the nature of the offences, he was remanded to prison until April 22, 2013, his next court date. Police say that they are looking for his 2 accomplices.
