Police visited Richard Stout's home at #3 Coconut Grove, Consejo Shores in the Corozal District, and they found him on the ground behind his house. Investigations so far suggest that Stout was at home alone at the time, and he allegedly shot himself with a 9mm pistol, which was found near his body.

His common-law wife reported that when she got home, she found him dead with the gun and a note beside him. According to her, Stout had been suffering from pulmonary emphysema since 2006, and that he indicated to her that he would kill himself.
