M and M Vindicated, But Still Not Paid
posted (March 27, 2013)
Last week we told you about the core samples being taken on the concrete pavement on Freetown Road. Contractor Roque Matus of M and M Engineering took those 12 core samples to an independent company and reports that all of them met and exceeded the four thousand PSI promised and documented in his company's scope of work.

The only problem is that the mayor told us last week that they require five thousand PSI - and if they don't get that, the contractors won't get their final payment.

Matus says that doesn't make sense because the council did not specify any PSI in its contracting document. He says the mayor only came up with that five thousand PSI after.

In the interim the council continues to hold out on the final payment to M and M Engineering. Matus says he's out that amount plus an additional ten thousand dollars he spent to conduct the test on the core samples.
