Wilfred Peters, The Third Killed
posted (May 16, 2013)
Gun violence had subsided in the city for the past two months – but last night there was a killing which had all the marks of a gang related execution. The victim had a famous name: Wilfred Peters, The Third – grandson of the great brukdown legend. But his death was the kind of event befitting the notorious, not the famous. Daniel Ortiz tried to find out how he got murdered inside his own house.

Daniel Ortiz reporting
Today the family of 26 year old Wilfred Peters III was back at his house looking for an explanation as to what made 3 gunmen ambush him in the safety of his own home. He only lived there for about 1 month, and he probably wanted to increase his security. That's probably why he had video camera surveillance partially installed. If it only were capturing, what a brutal attack it would have caught on tape.

Wilfred Peters Jr. - Father of Deceased
"About after 2 last night they called and told us that they killed my son, he's my only child in my life."

Daniel Ortiz
"Do you know how it happened sir?"

Wilfred Peters Jr.
"They shot him - he got about 5 shots."

Daniel Ortiz
"He was in his bed right?"

Wilfred Peters Jr.
"Yes he was in his bed."

Police believe that his assailants were three men who got into to the house and made sure that he couldn't escape. Once inside, they shot him indiscriminately.

Wilfred Peters Jr.
"They stamped down his door and he was asleep because he was in his boxers and they gave him five shots."

His father is still trying to understand what would prompt 3 gunmen to barricade him in and end his life in that graphic fashion. He says that this tragic situation could have been worse.

Wilfred Peters Jr.
"Well he is a hard working person and he works with Boots and just got his house. He hasn't even lived there for a month and we heard he had some 'hard talk' with three people so I don't know who it is but I will leave it in God's hands. I thank God his girlfriend didn't come with him too because maybe they would have killed him too."

Peters is named after his grand father, the Late Great Mr. Wilfred Peters, leader of the Boom and Chime band. His father said that he was close with his grandfather.

Daniel Ortiz
"How close were they?"

Wilfred Peters Jr.
"Very close - we are just trying to cope with my father's death and so my sisters came from the states because it's been three years since he died and now they killed my son."

Carla Peters-Rodriguez - Aunt of Deceased
"We called him 'papach' from he's a small boy and my dad used to call him like that from he was a baby. From we know him he is a loving person and is always making noise, the house could be quiet and when he comes the house gets noisy when he opens his big mouth."

The family says that they will find it difficult to get over this loss.

Wilfred Peters Jr.
"I don't know how I will rebuild my life. I always see it on the TV how people are crying and I didn't know it would have come to my door. They killed my only son, he's the only one in my life - I have step son and step daughters but I will leave it in God's hands."

Carla Peters-Rodriguez
"The thing that burns me is I always tell my nephew - he is like a son to me, I always tell him that he should never take anyone's life because he can see how the parent's feel and he should never do that. So why someone would just come and take his life?. I'm hope he's happy."

Peters leaves behind a 2 year-old son, Wilfred Peters The Fourth. The land that his house was built on was given to him by his grandfather, and the house was built by Minister Anthony "Boots" Martinez, who is his boss.
