Chinese Businessman Killed By Employee
posted (May 16, 2013)
Police got the report of the Peters murder at 2:20 am, and twenty minutes later, they got another report, this one at mile 12 on the Western Highway. The murder had happened earlier in the morning, around 1:00 am when a Chinese business-owner was fatally clubbed across the head by his own employee. We found out more today.

Daniel Ortiz reporting
There are more questions than answers in the murder of 42 year-old Wei Tao Liu, which happened at his foam factory at 12 ½ miles at on the Western Highway. His family isn't speaking with the media, but we have confirmed that they were witnesses to the entire incident.

Police say that his own employee was the one who hit Liu in the back of his head with a blunt object. That blow was massive, and he died on the spot.

ASP Chris Noble - Regional Executive Officer
"We had an incident in the area of the foam factory. The police did visit and we do have a male person that was injured and has been transferred to the hospital. That person succumbed and subsequent to that our investigations has led us to record some statements and the matter is still ongoing. The suspect in this case or the person of interest in this case has not been detained and we're hopeful that he will."

Reporter
"Have you been able to establish what the motive was? Was there a dispute before?"

ASP Chris Noble
"That is unknown at this stage we're still looking into what circumstances led to the injuries."

Daniel Ortiz
"Sir, can you tell us what is the relationship between the deceased and the person of interest?"

ASP Chris Noble
"The relationship, I can't say. But I can say that he was a worker at the establishment because it is a place of business that the incident occurred."

Lee Mark Chang - Friend of the Deceased
"I was told that supposedly there were three employees at the factory where this happened and two of the workers gave statements that they saw when the third person attacked the employer."

And while no one has any idea as to what caused this employee to bash Liu in the head, it is also unknown why he then stole his vehicle, and abandoned it later on.

Reporter
"The vehicle in front of which you are standing was allegedly stolen by this person of interest? Yes? Can you say where the vehicle was retrieved?"

ASP Chris Noble
"We did retrieve a vehicle in the area in Hattieville village that has been confirmed to be for the deceased."

Reporter
"But you can't say that it was stolen by the suspect?"

ASP Chris Noble
"That is a matter for the investigation."

Lee Mark Chang
"I found out that the vehicle was recovered and I'm not too sure his intentions but it was abandoned and the police has already recovered the vehicle."

But one thing that is certain is that his family is devastated by his sudden loss.

Lee Mark Chang
"Of course the family is distraught of this happening. He has two kids whom are in High School and the wife is really taking it very hard. I've spoken with her and told her to stand strong because she has to take care of the two younger kids."

As a result, the Local Chinese Community is offering a reward for information to the police, which leads to his arrest.

Lee Mark Chang
"I was awaken this morning with the information that my friend was murdered this morning supposedly by one of his employees. We've come in contact with the police department and they have informed us that he is on the run so in order for his quick arrest - the Chinese Association is ready to give a $5,000 reward."

The deceased was the father of two children. Police are looking for Honduran Christian Alexander Mejia Munoz to assist them in their investigation.
