GSU On Drug Raids
posted (May 28, 2013)

Tonight, 64 year-old Ebert Usher, a taxi driver of #133 George Street, is facing a ten thousand dollar fine after he pleaded guilty to drug trafficking in Magistrate's Court.

The GSU searched his apartment on Saturday at around 7:30 a.m. They found 121 grams – or 4.27 ounces – ounces of marijuana in 2 lotion bottles, a deodorant bottle and a gel can. As a result, he was charged with drug trafficking, and he was arraigned in Magistrate's Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charge.

He was fined $10,000 which he must pay by November 30, 2013, or he will spend 3 years in prison if he defaults.

The GSU believes that the senior citizen is reputed drug peddler and an affiliate of the George Street Gang.

2 and half hours later, GSU officers searched Pinks Alley, behind an apartment amongst a pile of garbage. They discovered 79 grams of cannabis which they deposited as found property because no one was in the area. The officers believe that the drugs belong to members of the Majestic Alley Crips Gang.

On Friday, GSU officers searched the home of 31 year-old Kareem Bennett, a resident of Lauren Burgess Crescent in Belama Phase 3.

They discovered 10 small parcels which contained a total of 7 grams of cannabis in his living room.

He was arrested and charged with possession of controlled drugs.
