Alleged Broad Daylight Brodies Robber To Court
posted (September 5, 2013)
On Monday, we told you about the brazen daylight robbery of security guard who was depositing the day's proceeds for Brodies. Well tonight, police have charged the man who they believe stole that 46 thousand dollars on Saturday evening and he is currently on remand.

As we reported, the security guard was making a deposit right across the street to First Caribbean Bank when a man, who was wearing just a cap and a pair of sunglasses, ambushed him with a firearm and demanded that he hand over the money.

Brodies' policy is that it is best not to risk its employees' lives, so the security guard handed over a plastic bag with four money bags containing $46,064 dollars.

The thief ran off and made his escape through the busy downtown. Well, police were on patrol last night, and they saw Sheldon Sosa and 27 year-old Kenroy Gillett in a vehicle acting suspiciously. The officers searched them but nothing was found. Inside the vehicle, however, they discovered a black 9mm pistol with 9 rounds of ammunition, and as a result, they arrested and charged both men with keeping an unlicensed firearm, and keeping unlicensed ammunition.

Apparently, that bust led police to evidence that Sosa was the armed thief who robbed the Brodies security guard, and as a result, he was additionally charged with robbery.

Both Sosa and Gillett were arraigned in Magistrate's Court where they pleaded not guilty. Due to the nature of the offences, both men remanded to prison until their next court date, scheduled for October 4, 2013.
