And while that is not being investigated as a homicide, murder is clearly the case in Western Belize where a man was found burned up in his car in Teakettle.
Daniel Aguirre was well known in Belize as the 2011 KTV Latino winner – but his fame and his winning voice played no role to a merciless killer on Friday night.
His became the second murder in the villages outside of Belmopan in less than 24 hours. Here's what police know so far:..

Early Saturday morning, police found the car of the well-known Belmopan Taxi driver, Daniel Aguirre, abandoned on Pook's Hill Road near Tea Kettle Village.

"We responded to a call on Saturday morning in the Pook's Hill area behind Arizona village where we found a car, burnt and human remains inside the car."
Someone lit it on fire, leaving a body inside to burn, in what police suspect to be an effort to conceal evidence.

"The body will be taken to Belize City so the pathologist could do his work and which will assist us like wise because with this investigation we need the people from Forensic that will assist us. I cannot say that it is Aguirre's body, all I could say is that we suspect it to be his body until the results of the Post Mortem - then we will know who that person is."

"Can you describe to us what the officers discovered?"

"It was beyond recognition."

"But the vehicle was that of Mr. Aguirre's?"
ASP Sinquest Martinez
"Yes - based on the license plate and VIN number."
Aguirre has been missing since he got a call to provide a taxi charter and his family looks at the post-mortem as a mere formality. They know instinctively that it is his body, and the likelihood that he was burned to death has caused them additional grief:

"Actually he was hanging out at his cab and they asked him for a trip down and he went and did the trip but unfortunately he didn't come back. He went to do this trip and he took the guy and they murdered him in a cruel way."

"Right now we are going through tough times because we can't even accept that it's my uncle because only the body is left - you can't even say it - the news is so bad. His wife and all of us are very sad and we feel very mad with whoever did it because my uncle is a very honest person and hard working."

Investigators are already making progress with this case.
ASP Sinquest Martinez
"The investigation is pretty young, there are information we are working on at this present moment - we have three persons detained. We have viewed camera where he was last seen and we have picked up about 4 persons he transported prior to his death. They are assisting us pertaining to what we saw on the camera and it's a very interesting investigation at this present moment but there's still a lot more work that needs to get done."
A small correction, Aguirre was the 2011 KTV Latino Winner, not 2001.
The body has been transported to the KHMH where an autopsy is expected to confirm the identity. If indeed it was Aguirre, his murder has left his 5 daughters, 2 step daughters, and his step son without their father.
The police says that Aguirre has a licensed 9mm pistol which they believe he had on him while he went to deliver on that charter service on Saturday Morning. They still haven't found his 9mm as yet.
