Arrest In Roaring Creek Murder
posted (September 9, 2013)
In our top segment, we told you about the latest murder in Western Belize. Police continue to investigate that case, but while they're doing that, they say that they've solved the murder of 34 year-old Nigel Neal, who was killed in front of his mother's house in Roaring Creek on Friday morning.

Today, Belmopan Police arrested and charged 20 year-old Erlin Giovanni Archiaga, a resident of Lloro, Honduras, with the crime of murder. We asked the Commanding Officer to explain to us what led them to make the arrest, and how confident investigators are of the case against Archiaga:

ASP Sinquest Martinez - OC, Belmopan Police
"Over the weekend, we formally arrested a Honduran national for the death of Nigel Neal and the quick response of the police officers along with the people at large assisted us in that investigation and I would like to thank them for their assistance. From the time, the police responded to the report - the description of the person, the clothing that they were wearing and in the manner they were found - within less than two hours. When they were brought into to the police station - certain things transpired which also assisted us. I wouldn't want to discuss the motive because the investigation still continues and probably other people might be implicated."

Erlin Archiaga was arraigned today in Belmopan before Magistrate Aretha Ford. He has been remanded to prison until his next court date set for December 3, 2013.
