Weekend Killing: 21 Year Old Stabbed To Death In Cayo
posted (October 15, 2013)
Tonight the family of 21 year-old Leroy Moises Tzib, a resident of Cristo Rey Village, continues to mourn his death after he was fatally stabbed on Friday night.

According to police, they have the attacker, who is claiming self-defence. He says that he another man was attacked by Tzib, who was with a group of men on the main road for the village. This main suspect says that in order to defend himself, he had to pull out a knife and stab Tzib in the neck, the rib cage, and on the chin.

Police continue to investigate his version as the story, and as we've said, he is the prime suspect because police found him on the scene with a bloody knife believed to be the weapon which inflicted the wounds on Tzib. They're treating the case as a murder investigation, and while they try to find out all the facts, Tzib's family says that the young man they knew wouldn't do what this man is claiming. We caught up with them on Saturday evening, and we asked Tzib's father to share with us what the family knows. Here's what he told us:

Father of the Deceased
"He went to the village. I was watching TV when they come and tell me that he got hurt. I never thought that it was a serious injury. I went to the village and I saw my son on the ground with stab wounds to his neck and his back. I feel very sad right now. If that happen to you, how will you feel you know."

"My son is a very nice person."

Daniel Ortiz
"Do you know about how the incident happened? How did it unfold that your son got stab and his throat cut?"

Father of the Deceased
"The police told me that the guy that did it used a knife. As I saw him there I couldn't talk, I was crying and I couldn't say anything because I felt like I was going to fall right there."

"I feel very sad for my son. He like to work and be friendly with everyone, but I don't know why that happened to him."

The main suspect had to receive treatment for minor injuries to the head.
