And our next story is about another teenager's death - but this 17 year old didn't drown; he was killed. Richard Waight Jr., a resident of Hattieville lost his life in a village brawl on Friday.

It started out a fight between boys, but things escalated when one of the parties went for an older man to settle the beef, not with conflict resolution, but with a blade. He stabbed two teenagers, leaving one critical and another dead. We visited the grieving family today:...

Jules Vasquez reporting
Today Richard Waight Sr. thumbed through his son's certificates; Richard Jr had been an exceptional football player - but now all that was gone.

Richard Waight Sr.
"I found my son dying Jules."

Richard Waight Jr. was stabbed in a fight that broke out here on the village basketball court near to the village police station - seen in the background in yellow. An older man stabbed him and a 16 year old friend. The stab was to Waight's chest. He fell on the grass and bled profusely.

Richard Waight Sr.
"Big grown man, he came right there and took my son's life. This is not someone who came to part anything. This is someone who came out there with the intent to do some harm."

His father raced to the hospital and met his teenaged son dying:

Richard Waight Sr.
"Atleast he knew that I was there because he really didn't get to say anything to me. Basically the only thing that he said to me, he yelled out in pain and told me that he can't take it anymore. And all I was telling him was try to breathe, you can't stop breathe. I watch him right there just going."

But he did go - shortly after he arrived at the hospital before he could be operated on. And now his father is destroyed:

Richard Waight Sr.
"People don't understand, it's like they rip a part of you when they do that. They don't understand the way that you feel. His whole life - I had a lot of plans for my son."

Police have the suspect in custody, pending murder charges.

Richard Waight Sr.
"I don't even want to talk to him. I don't have any words for him. The way I feel in my heart, I can't even think about talking to him, I don't want him in front of me."

Supt. Chris Noble, Regional Executive Office
"We have one person like I said in custody that we believe can assist us with the investigation."

They also have what may be the murder weapon:

Supt. Chris Noble, Regional Executive Office
"Our investigation so far is leading us in one direction. To say that the weapon has been recovered I cannot because of course our investigation has to reveal that after tests are done and so forth."

Ladyville Police say that their main suspect Justin Lemott has been charged for murder.
