Belize’s Lady Jaguars Taking Goals But Gaining Experience
posted (May 29, 2014)
Earlier this month, the Belize National Women's Football Team, the Lady Jaguars, went to Guatemala to participate in the UNCAF Female tournament in that country. It's part of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but the Lady Jaguars performed in less than spectacular fashion.

Today, the President of the Football Federation of Belize told us that though the losses were tough, he's happy that they're getting the experience:

Ruperto Vicente, President - FFB
"Our first game was against Honduras and we lost 8-1 to Honduras and we played our second match against Panama, panama defeat us 13-1. In the third game which was against Guatemala, we lost 5 goals 2-0."

"The goals that were scored, who scored those goals?"

Ruperto Vicente, President - FFB
"I don't remember who scored those goals at the moment. We did scored two goals and we also scored one on ourselves."

Reporter
"Are you disappointed sir?"

Ruperto Vicente, President - FFB
"Yes I am, but yet satisfied that the girls got an opportunity to play and to also see how far they need to go in order to prepare for these types of tournaments. They are back at home and so they had played in the world cup eliminations and our girls did not do too well, but we expect all of this because we are growing in female football."

Vicente says that the FFB will be establishing leagues for development for female football.
