Last night we told you about Minister Godwin Hulse's libel suit against the Belize Times. Both sides have agreed to a settlement which will be read in court on July 10th. But, today's Amandala quoting times Attorney Kareem Musa reports that the paper is looking at a settlement in the region of fifteen thousand dollars, plus the costs of Hulse's attorney Michael Young. That's above average, since most libel settlements with private individuals are in the range of eight thousand dollars.
The offending article referred to private lands in the Belize River Valley and suggested wrongdoing.
