We have learned that Director of Immigration Maria Marin had also threatened COLA with a lawsuit before it released the Auditor General's preliminary report. The Auditor General singles her out for special censure - saying that she demonstrated blatant disrespect for the Auditor's office and the law. The report also links her to a number of offences. "Not the lease Mr. Rudon or any of you. I have work with Ms. Marin fairly close and I find her to be stellar. As I've said before and will say again and this applies to any and everybody: first of all I have to have confidence in the people who work for me. I have 9 departments, I have the Investment Committee, I am on the Works Committee, I head government business in the Senate and I think the nation know I am a workaholic. Even when I get nail "juk" and my back… - I still have to work. I have to have confidence in the people and I could not work with anybody I don't have confidence in. If the confidence is lost for any reason I would be terrible 
disappointed, but that would be the end of the relationship. I am not going to support anybody, no matter who it is. I've said that time and time again, it could be my children, it could be my wife, could be anybody - I'm not going to support wrong doing, so up to this point I have no reason to have any doubt and that's where I stand."
Marin is still acting director after taking up the post 17 months ago.
