Robbers Went For Security Guards Gun; Left Bowen Employees Alone

Police from Precinct 2 had to respond to another crime in their area when 2 men ambushed a security guard who was guarding a Bowen and Bowen truck.

The Bowen employees stopped to make a delivery at one of the shops on Haulze Street, in the Lake Independence area, a short distance away from the Mahogany Street Police Sub-Station.

With the police nearby, and their own dedicated guard with them, the delivery team may have believed that they were secured. But, reports say that in an approximate 10-minute operation, armed masked men singled the security guard out, forced him to the ground and gun-point and relieved him of his service weapon, which belongs to his security firm.

Police arrived shortly after, and set chase after the men. The officer from Precinct 2 shared more details with us today:

"Sometime around 10:30am today the 17th July, 2014, police personnel attached to Precinct 2 visited a Chinese establishment namely Number Eleven located on Oleander Street in the St. Martin's De Porres area where a security officer attached to the Fort Point Security Services reported that whilst there at that establishment doing guard for the Bowen and Bowen delivery truck which comprises of 3 persons and a supervisor, he was approached by an unknown male person who had a stocking over his face and pointed a chrome colored gun on his face. As a result he was searched and remove of his 9mm pistol which is the property of the security company. During that incident no one from the delivery truck and the supervisor for Bowen and Bowen got robbed nor the establishment. Only the security guard was remove of his 9mm pistol and as a result of that investigation several persons have been detained for questioning in relation to that incident."

Police report that due to their quick response time, the units in play managed detain on the fleeing culprits, and a .32 mm handgun, which was loaded with 5 live rounds was retrieved. Police say that the operation, in which 2 culprits were caught 3 guns were taken off the street, will continue under the leadership of Senior Superintendent Alford Grinage.
