posted (July 17, 2014)
On Tuesday, we told you about the new Taiwanese Ambassador, Benjamin Ho. He's replacing Ambassador David Wu, who's served in Belize for 4 years.

Well, Ambassador Ho and his wife arrived at the PGIA this morning to a group of Taiwanese Belizeans who made sure to stop in and greet the new diplomat. We met him at the airport and spoke about coming back to Belize in an official capacity, after so many years:

Benjamin Ho, new Taiwanese Ambassador
"Like a boy away from home so many years and come back you can imagine how excited I am to be back."

Daniel Ortiz
"Can we ask you about your trip here and about the arrangements which were made for you to become the new ambassador?"

Benjamin Ho, new Taiwanese Ambassador
"My government decided to appoint me as ambassador here. I was very excited. Without hesitation, I accepted immediately. I have so many friends, old friends. As I come here I will make more new friends. I think myself as a Belizean, so since I am here I would like to work together with your people hand in hand so that we can work together and we can strengthen our policies in many respect like infrastructure development, like in medical cooperation, like human resource training, education - all kinds even in energy and the environment. These are issues of common concern that we can try to work together."

Ambassador Ho was also previously posted to Belize as First Secretary and Senior Specialist from 1994-1998.
