Court: Morris Didn't Steal Cop's Gun
posted (July 18, 2014)
33 year old Karim Morris, who was charged with kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license for a .38 revolver and 4 rounds of ammunition, which were stolen from a police constable, was acquitted of the charges today by Magistrate Hettie Mae Stuart.

The gun was stolen from PC White in March 2011, after White was shot a Belama sub station. Police had recovered the gun and ammunition from a bushy area near the river at Belama Phase 3. The allegation was that Morris and another man, Eldon Smith, had taken the police to where the gun and ammunition were hidden. Smith was charged jointly with Morris but Smith was acquitted about 2 months ago. Morris had called one witness, his girlfriend, who testified that he was elsewhere when the firearm and ammunition were recovered.

Magistrate Stuart found Morris not guilty due to insufficient evidence against him. So, he was allowed to leave court a free man.
