Tonight, a 37 year old Mexican woman is detained pending a murder charge after she allegedly stabbed her Belizean common law, 28 year old Felix Alamilla to death in his sleep.  His crime?  He hadn't come home for two nights and had apparently taken up with another woman – that is according to reports.

So, at dawn, she went to find him at the far south of the island in the Boca Del Ciera area and stabbed him to death.  After that she tried to flee San Pedro.  Tonight she is detained and has confessed to police. Monica Bodden went to San Pedro to find out more:

This golf cart parked inside the compound of the San Pedro Police Station was what transported Felix Alamilla to a private clinic early this morning.

The seats of the gulf cart are covered with bloodstains- and at the back this towel was seen - still soaked through with his blood.

It's an indication of the amount of blood Allamia lost during his struggle to stay alive. He survived for almost a little over an hour before he succumbed to his injuries.

His friend Edgar Santos was right by his side.

Edgar Santos, Friend of Allamia
"Like a half an hour after the crime happen; I just left him here, he was laying in the couch sleeping, then I went back because I had to go to my other job."

Monica Bodden
"Was he alone?"

Edgar Santos
"He was with the other worker from here. So I told him I got to go, I have to go back and work and i'll be back; By the time I was coming back I saw he already went in the golf cart; He and the other worker and the step father was taking him. So when I asked them what happen they just told me that his wife came and stabbed him. He was alive we went to different places in the hospital nobody wanted to attend to us, nobody came out, nothing. The time that someone arrived he was already gone."

The stabbing happened around 6 this morning at a house in the Boca Ciega area- South of San Pedro Town.

Alamilla who was the caretaker of the building was sleeping inside the living room on a couch – when he was allegedly attacked with a knife by his common-law-wife 37 year old Mexican National Anabell Cumul.

He was stabbed 3 times – once to the left eye, left upper chest and left side of his head. One person was inside the house and witnessed what happened.

Edgar Santos
"He saw everything, he said he was laying down when he heard the door open and when he peeped out he saw the guy's wife run inside, get the knife, and went top of him. He told him boss wake up, when he did wake up she was already stabbing him; He tried to put a pillow but didn't make no difference."

Cumul fled the murder scene after in attempt to leave the island – but was intercepted shortly after by police outside the Tropic Air building.

She was along with her sister and her 2 young children.

Sergeant Lenancio Bol – Investigator
"About 6:50 a.m on today's date, we received an information from a male person who visited the station that he and others took his friend to a private clinic right here in San Pedro Town. His friend suffered, according to him stab wounds to his body. Based on that information, I went to San Carlos medical clinic where I met Dr. Giovanni Solorzano who took me to one of the rooms and showed me an individual, a Hispanic male person. We observed this person had what appeared to be a stab wound to his left eye, left upper chest area and the left side of his head. This person was identified as Felix Eduardo Alamilla, 28 years old Belizean, caretaker of Buca Del Ciera area San Pedro Town."

Felix was at the residence where he takes care of the building; He was sleeping when he was attacked by him common-law wife. During the attack he sustained the injuries I mentioned earlier. At this point in time the investigation shows we have an eye witness who came forward and is cooperating fully with the police. The charges has not been brought as yet, we need to review all the statements, including the witnesses and we move on from there, if needs be, we definitely submit the file to the Director of Public Prosecution for further directives."

The crime is believed to have happened at 6:00 am, and by 7:30 am police had detained Cumul.

Police also detained her sister because they believe she may have helped to clean up the crime scene.  Police noted that when they reached the scene there was no blood and no sign that a vicious stabbing had occurred.

According to our information, Cumul is 37 and was the mother of two children.  The 28 year old Alamilla was a caretaker at an island resort.

She is expected to be charged within the next 24 hours.

A post mortem conducted this evening showed that he died from asphyxia due to bleeding.  He had cut wounds to his head, his chest above the heart and another on his leg which is where a major artery was severed – and that is believed to have caused the fatal bleeding.
