Last week We told you about that Mopan Street home invasion, which happened 2 Saturdays ago, when tacos lady "Miss Alida" Ascencio and her helper Carlos Mayorga were shot and killed, and 2 other young women were injured and hospitalized. Well, police believe that they have one of the 2 assailants, and tonight we can reveal his identity as 21 year-old Khaleel Ponce.
This Mopan Street resident was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith on 2 counts of murder, 2 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts of dangerous harm, and 2 counts of using deadly means of harm. He was remanded into custody until October 1.
As we told you, 42 year-old Alida Ascencio was preparing her chicken for her tacos sales at around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26. She was being assisted by 52 year-old Carlos Mayorga, 19 year-old Karina Avila, and 21 year-old Sejhan Avila. Just before 5, 2 armed men entered the house and held them at gunpoint. The assailants then robbed them of $2,000, forced them to kneel down, and shot all of them before fleeing. Mayorga and Ascencio died from those gunshot injuries.
