Capital Cops Catch Criminal
posted (August 8, 2014)
Belmopan police are reporting that they've caught a man who has been a fugitive for a month after he was the main suspect in an armed robbery in that City. He's 23 year-old Lincoln Bejerano, and tonight, he's at the Belize Central Prison.

The cashier of Gas Tomza in Belmopan reported that just after midday on Friday, July 18, she was at work when she saw 2 men approaching the office on a motorcycle. Shortly after, one of the men barged into the office and quickly subdued her at knife point. He demanded money, and fearing for her life, she handed over a Belize Bank deposit bag, which contained $1,000 of the day's proceeds inside it.

That's when the man ran off, jumped on the motorcycle, and his companion drove off.

Police started to investigate, and they eventually charged a 15 year-old male minor, after his parent handed him into police. That minor was arraigned on the crime of conspiracy to commit robbery, and he was remanded to the booth camp.

After an intense 4-week search, police acted on good intelligence and finally located Bejerano this morning. He was charged with robbery, and he was arraigned in the Belmopan Magistrate's Court. He pleaded not guilty to the charge, and he was remanded to the prison.
