Former Customs Officer Remanded

Former Customs Officer Emert Flowers is going through a rough patch after he recently lost his job with Customs then was remanded to jail on a gun charge.

He had a domestic dispute over the last weekend, where he allegedly pulled a gun. Police were notified of the incident, and when they searched his house, they found a 16-gauge shotgun with the nozzle cut off, basically adapted to be a sawed-off shot gun. The officers then charged him with altering a firearm, and he was arraigned on Monday before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stewart.

Flowers was represented by attorney Anthony Sylvester, and he was remanded to prison until September 2.

He received a letter of termination from the Public Service Ministry 2 weeks ago for his job at the Customs and Excise Department.
