Monchie’s Mom And Murder Mastermind Manuel Had Land Dealings in 2014
posted (November 13, 2014)
At the top of our newscast tonight, you saw Ramon Monchie Cervantes talk about why he will not apologize for or retract his very serious allegations against Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega.

Cervantes says he can't do that because he must do justice to the memory of his father - who was murdered - in what he says was a botched political assassination - which meant to take him out - so that he would not be a political threat to his UDP opponent in Orange Walk North, Gaspar Vega.

But, there are other theories out there - and one of them is that Manuel Castillo - the alleged murder mastermind - could have had a grievance with Ramon Cervantes Sr, or his family. We know that they did have a land transaction earlier this year - but today Monchie Cervantes told us that it was concluded amicably. He discussed the transaction in detail today:..

Jules Vasquez
"Was there a land transaction ongoing, pending, yet unresolved between Mr. Manuel Castillo and Ramon Cervantes Sr.?"

Ramon "Monchie" Cervantes Jr.
"My mother bought a piece of land from Manuel Castillo which is right two corners where that use to live; their old family house. At the beginning Mr. Manuel Castillo wanted $45,000 and he received advances on those monies and then against that $45,000, $13,000 had already been disbursed - legal fees that we had agreed that would be paid on his behalf. So the original purchase price was $45,000. When he came to my mom sometime in this year, he said he wanted a little more for his land, so we ended up paying him $50,000 in addition to the $13,000 that has gone against the price he was asking. So in total we paid $63,000 towards that. The $50,000 that was paid - about $10,000 went to Landy's and Son where he had the land pawn and I think about $700 plus to the town council for property taxes and the other rounded off at $40,000 went to him and there was no dispute in that. As a matter of fact my father was the one that least dealt or spoke to Manuel because he was almost always in his fields. The one that dealt with Manuel was my mom and myself and he is a neighbor. We have bought several other lands around this neighborhood and at prices much lower than $63,000."

Jules Vasquez
"Have you ever explore that as a possibility of something that could be related because again he had already requested more once. Maybe he wanted more."

Ramon "Monchie" Cervantes Jr.
"No, but what he requested that was what we agree on that."

Jules Vasquez
"It is already unreasonable to request something above what was asked in the price."

Ramon "Monchie" Cervantes Jr.
"Well as times goes by. Remember Jules, the process started some years ago; the $45,000 was then. We agreed to $45,000 signed and agreed and then we ended up paying $63,000."
