The Japanese non-resident Ambassador to Belize was in country today to sign an agreement for one million dollars in grant funds. But it's not just free money; it comes with strings: Japan is using the programme to kickstart production in areas of the country that were damaged by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami on the island nation's pacific coast.

The grant is for one million US dollars and Belize has to spend it by the end of 2015.
The products available under the grant arrangement include loaders, computers, weather instruments and many other items.
