Man Alleges Gross Police Brutality
posted (December 30, 2014)
This morning, Francisco Garrido visited our office after reportedly being released from police custody. He wore a bloodied shirt, and had pronounced injuries to the face, head and arms. All of them, he claims, were inflicted by a police officer when he went to make a report against a man who he got into a fight with.

Now, that raises immediate red flags that Garrido may be fabricating the entire story to discredit the police, and that he actually got these injuries from that fight he was in.

But, he insists that a police officer did it, and that it all started when he visited the police station to report the man so that officers can intervene. He explained it to us today:

Francisco Garrido
"This is a brutality from the police. This happen about 10pm last night at the Euphrates Police Station. I went to make a report concerning a fight that involved me and another individual and on arriving the police station on Euphrates Avenue, I was speaking to a police officer giving him my particulars and at the same time a CIB officer came and ask me what happen. I told him sir, me and a young man got into a fight just now. He replied that we are playing bad man. He came and grab a big bat and he started to whop me out, damage my spine, my head, bruises in my hands and feet. I mean something have to be done about this. I will take this matter to the full extent and that's why I went to make an internal report at the Raccoon Street Police Station, but I will visit the ombudsman and I will take it further because of what the CIB officer did to me. I went to make a report and I ended up getting lashed out in his office and still he looked at me and tells me you see how the other guy bursts you up. I will visit the ombudsman and the commissioner of police. These things are happening too regular. We cant just getting hurt and nobody is not reporting it, but why? So the police they hurt somebody, nobody wants to come to the media and show themselves and let people see what the police are doing to them because what happened to me is chancy. I went to make a report and I ended up getting lashed out from a CIB officer."

Garrido says that he intends to press this case as far as he can possibly go, starting with the Ombudsman's Office.
