Today was the 10th anniversary of the PetroCaribe agreement between the Government of Venezuela and the Government of Belize. Now, whenever you say that word the United Democratic Party is quick to remind how that funding has been the pillar of all the construction programs around the country. The PUP, on the other hand, is quick to condemn it for what they say is wanton and unnecessary spending of moneys in questionable programs.
But the Government was buttoned all way up when they received the Venezuelan ship known as "Simon Bolivar" with a contingent of Venezuelan Navy Personnel. Officials from the Foreign Ministry, the National Security Ministry, the Belize Coast Guard, the Governor General, other Government Officials held a ceremony for the Venezuela officers and their Ambassador to Belize.
