APBEL Receives The Venezuelans With A Friendly Gesture
posted (June 11, 2015)
From there, the Venezuelans went over to the Coney Drive Office of APBEL to greet with the Government officials in that company, who manage the PetroCaribe Finance which comes in every month.

An informal social event was set up for the officers in commemoration of the 10 anniversary of the agreement. We stopped by and spoke with the accountant about the importance of such a gesture:

Hernan Herrera - Accountant, APBEL
"It's a great appreciation what these Venezuelans are doing, first of all for the Petrocaribe program. They came here for a couple days and their primary objective was to pass by the Caribbean and come by Belize and of course there are this solidarity between Belize and our company. They're just passing by in essence."

Daniel Ortiz
"Talk to us about what you all have done here for this event. What is its purpose?"

Hernan Herrera - Accountant, APBEL
"Well the purpose is to create that solidarity and friendship between the two countries, not only political-wise but also in other aspects. In this case you can see it's more of an educational and we are proud to have them here and obviously we intend to do it more often."

Daniel Ortiz
"Talk to us about your perspective of those Venezuelans who've been here. You've talked to them. What is the sentiment of those persons here?"

Hernan Herrera - Accountant, APBEL
"Well for some of them it's their first time their coming here. It's a privilege to have them there. First time they're here and they enjoy Belize as a whole and that is something that we really appreciate. Overall if you were listening, all of them were really impressed and that's good for us as a country."
