Youth Cadets Graduate, Where’s Mom and Dad
posted (June 12, 2015)
Yesterday, the National Youth Cadet Services Corp graduated its 16th intake of cadets, made up of young men between the ages of 13 to 17 years. These were youth who were troubled and at risk of getting involved with the street life.

The organization, which falls under the Department of Youth Services, aims to teach these young men positive traits such as the rule of law, good work ethics, self-respect, discipline and a commitment of service to their community.

Yesterday, we got a chance to meet those new cadets who have gone through 10 months of training. Minister of State with responsibility for Youth and Sports, Herman Longsworth was also present. He told the gathering that he was a bit disappointed to see that some parents of these reformed young men were missing for this occasion:

The National Youth Cadet Services Corp simulates military discipline, and some of the graduates, having been oriented with this type of lifestyle, have gone on to join the military both locally and abroad.
