Belize did Complain to OAS
posted (June 16, 2015)

At the top of the newscast we told you how the government of Belize had not sent any formal letter of protest to the Guatemalan Government about the Santa Cruz incident where five Belizean men were targeted for arrest, and then roughed up, abused and threatened with death – made to run four miles with army rifles trained on them. And while nothing ahs been sent form Belmopan to Guatemala City, during this newscast, we have learned that a letter was sent to the OAS on Monday. The letter notes, quote, "there are serious concerns arising from complaints that have been received from these citizens of Belize of their alleged mistreatment and abuse at the hands of officials of the Guatemalan Armed Forces, and by the alleged false charges brought against them." The letter also notes that OAS officials helped in securing their release.
