The Family and friends of Desmond Usher gathered on the street near the reservoir in Mahogany Heights this morning.

Several of his family members were standing on the side of the road, anxious and restless - waiting to get a final glance of him.

23 year old Desmond Usher went missing on Friday night right after he left his mother in law's house to go visit his father.

Sherima Neal, Common Law Wife
"When I saw him on Friday at 8:30pm, he came and brought things for me to eat I was at my mom's house and he told me to get ready because he is coming back for me and we are going home. I was there waiting, but he didn't return. So I started to get worried and I got a feeling that something was wrong, because he would never would have told me to get ready and doesn't come back. And when he never came back, I just started to text everybody that I know who I think he would be with and no respond - they didn't see him."

And that's when she called her brother in law in Belize City to come look for him.

Cecil Usher, Brother
"We ended up all the way to the new dump site and search there, come right down and we didn't find anything. At 6pm we gave up and went home. I catch my bus and I went home and I told my grandpa that tomorrow early at 6am I would be up here, because I have to find my brother."

It is with that determination that he along with a friend found his brother Desmond this morning.

Cecil Usher, Brother
"I looked up in the sky and saw two "john crow" and I told my friend that that looked like a sign. I told him to go right and I will go left. He went that way and I went this way. I went and watch the trail and said that something here looks fishy. So we just went walking and saw my brother fighting for his life. So what we did, I ask my friend to check in that area there and he upon checking he saw my brother right there."

His body was found beyond these dense bushes - badly beaten and according to family members his hands and feet were tied.

Sherima Neal, Common Law Wife
"I don't know who would drag someone way at the back there to kill them. When we went back there, we were slipping down and fell in puddles of hole. They did their best. They took away somebody who we loved. Everybody loved "Mumuch.""

Although the family is convinced that he was loved by everyone, something went terribly wrong that Friday night when he left for his father's house. According to his sister, it all started with a phone call he received.

Voice of Sister
"He had a close friend who was a female. She called him and he left and that was it. She knows exactly what happened."

Courtney Weatherburne
"You know the nature or the history of their relationship?"

Voice of Sister
"Well I know those two are always about. Those two always hang out."

While that speculation and mystery about that phone call hovers his family and this small community.

The reality of his demise shocked everyone. A coffin was carried to where Desmond's body was found. His body was placed in the coffin and brought out at 2:30 - about 6 hours after it was found.

It was placed on the side of the road - where family and friends lovingly placed their hands on the coffin and murmured their farewell. Another family member - fell to her knees and gripped the coffin in agony. She had to be carried away and consoled.

It was then placed in the back of this truck and driven to his house for the last time.

Cecil Usher, Brother
"It's really sad, because I don't see what my brother have done. What did my brother do? My brother didn't kill anyone. My brother didn't robbed anyone. What my brother does at Heights? Everyone know my brother. "Mumuch" is a handy man. So why did they kill my brother?"

Desmond Usher had been living in Mahogany Heights for 3 years and was well known in the village. He was the father of two kids and one unborn child. We will hear from the police until tomorrow.
