One political observer who has been keenly tracking the developments in the PUP is Steven Okeke. He's written two books on politics in Belize - and two weeks ago - he put up an interesting Facebook post in which he offered 10 options for the PUP Leadership in a time of crisis. He wrote it before the Dangriga election and today he discussed the options that are still there after another loss:..

"Its unconventional situation for them right now and I don't think they have been in this kind of disorganization, not just that the party is losing, but the leadership doesn't seem to know what to do and their public face, their public presentation - what they present to the public discourages even their own people from coming out to vote. So, what they have to do is to so what they have never done before. Do something drastic. Do something that makes the people see you want to win, you want to show them you are interested in running the country - you are interested the country - you are interested in being a vibrant opposition, not necessarily who is in charge or who is at the helm or who make up the leadership. But you want to win. You want to do something drastic and that is where you have to choose somebody among you who have some charisma, who have some flare, you have some youthfulness and some level of experience."
"But I've said so far that the only two viable people they have right now in my view will be Johnny Briceno and Mr. Cordel Hyde. Now, suggesting them does not mean endorsing them. But I think that the only two people I can see right now who can flare the party, who can take the party to some kind of fighting chance, who can command the follow ship. They may be people who could be angry that you are choosing this over theirs, but you have to decide do you want to make profit or do you want to prove who is the owner of the business. Are you more concern about the cheese, about who takes the place."
"In that sense, but man Mr. Johnny Briceno has already taken a swipe at glory and he has lost some gloves. The only person right now who could do something different, except there is something catch him by, but ordinarily will be Mr. Cordel Hyde. That's my personal view."
"If that step is not going to be taken, then the People's United Party have to acquire the services of some media consultant to support their leader, to help him in his presentation in the media - just look into the camera, look at the interviewer..."
