A murder victim was found buried in a shallow grave just outside Belmopan. Yesterday morning at around 5:00 police found the body of 61 year old Salvadoran Farmer Osmar Ramos buried. It was found 5 miles off the main road of Spring Field Community in the Paraiso Area. Police say the body was buried there for about a month. An onsite autopsy was done and it showed that Ramos was chopped to the neck, back of the head, shoulder and chin. We spoke via telephone to Belmopan Deputy Commander Inspector Stephanie Grinage and she updated us on what they know so far.

"On the 15th July, acting on intelligence received, 3 specialize unit and the Belmopan Police visited an area situated 5 miles off the Hummingbird Highway and south of Springfield Village, Cayo District. Police discovered a shallow grave with the decomposed body of one, Mr. Osmar Ramos of Paraiso area. That's an area in the Springfield Village also. Investigations revealed that Ramos was killed sometime in the month of June."

"What happened, the area that Mr. Ramos lives is a secluded farm and hence the reason, he would go for months and the family would not see him. So, hence the reason they didn't know that he was missing. Investigations is revealing that there was a fight amongst the men."
Two men have been detained. Police believe those men got into a fight with Ramos and it ended up with him being chopped and killed. When we spoke to the family this evening, they told us that they last saw him late March and they didn't file a missing person's report because he usually does this - shows up one day and then disappears for months. Ramos's brother says the story about the fight he may have gotten into is plausible because Ramos drank a lot and was often verbally abusive. His remains received a proper burial today.
