Too Many Trauma Cases, KHMH Out of Beds!
posted (August 5, 2015)

Last month – KHMH employees went on a go-slow where all clinics and elective surgeries were cancelled. Well, now the hospital administration is doing much the same but for a very different reason. A release sent out an hour ago says that today the administration, quote, "took the decision to suspend elective admissions to the General Surgical Ward and Day Cases due to the overwhelming numbers of emergency cases, particularly trauma victims, requiring admission and surgical intervention, over the last week." The release adds that the patients are referred to the KHMH from all over the country –so many that there were more patients than there were available beds. So now the KHMH isn't taking any new cases to the surgical ward, basically so that they can clear out the current backlog.

So when will things normalise? Well, the release says that if all goes well, they will resume admission of elective and Day Cases on Monday August 10th.
