National Security Getting Major Upgrades
posted (August 7, 2015)
And while the Taiwanese will donate those birds, the Ministry of National Security isn't only begging for upgrades - they are buying their own! As we've reported, the Government is acquiring a loan from CABEI, The Central American Bank for Economic Integration.

Today at the BDF recruit passing out, Security Minister John Saldivar outlined a package of upgrades that those funds will be invested into, including the renovation of 100 police structures

Hon. John Saldivar, Minister of National Security
"Government has also committed US 30 million dollars for national security programs that will be done by way of a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). This will see the acquisition of some major equipment and infrastructure repairs for the entire national security infrastructure. Projects such as a new forensic laboratory, 2 patrol crafts for the Coast Guard to patrol our exclusive economic zones, repair and construction of over 100 buildings for the Belize Police Department and the BDF will also be acquiring troop lifting vehicles to replace the ageing 4 ton trucks that the BDF now have. These are but a few of the things that will be done out of that US 30 million dollar loan."
