Pastor’s Family Suffers Terrifying Home Invasion In Cayo
posted (October 14, 2015)

There was a terrifying early morning home invasion in a village in the Cayo district. We cannot be precise with the details or the images of the area, because a minor was raped – and we can't show or say anything which would lead to disclosure of that child's identity.

So, all we can say is that it happened in one of the villages outside Belmopan in the Cayo District.

We spoke to the family today and learned that yesterday morning after 7:00, the man of the house, a foreign pastor was working in his yard with his helper when two armed and masked men emerged from these bushes and told them to lie on the ground. The armed men then tied their hands with tape and took them into the main house. The pastor's wife and daughter were in the house and their hands were also tied. One of the men stayed with the family while the other rummaged through the entire house stealing TV's, laptops, phones, jewelry and cash. But the men didn't give up there – they then took the family to the back house where they helped themselves to an assortment of tools and other items. That's where one of the men took the daughter – who is a minor - to another room and raped her. The men then loaded the supplies in the pastor's car and drove off. That's when the helper untied himself and set the family free. The traumatized family told us today that their daughter had to undergo surgery after the vicious rape. In terms of the burglary, the men stole about $8,000 worth of items including cash that was set aside for their church. They also told us that this is the 4th time that their house was burglarized but that it is the 1st time that they witnessed it. The police have found the stolen car but we could not reach the investigating officer to find out about possible suspects. In a bizarre footnote, the Pastor and his wife told us that the robbers repeated to them that they were doing this to send a message to Prime Minister Barrow that he needs to stop fixing roads because they can't eat roads; they want to be given money for land. The pastor and his wife are badly shaken and declined an on camera interview.
