Francis & Finnegan Get Sentimental
posted (October 16, 2015)
As we've shown you, today was a day for cold political calculation; a numbers and money game. But, in the middle of it, we found two seasoned politicians who were feeling sentimental. Francis Fonseca and Michael Finnegan might not agree about a whole lot but they did feel a little misty eyed during the nomination process today:..

Francis Fonseca, PUP Party Leader
"But of course today I remember my mother, because this is the first time that I have marched without her to nomination day. As always as you know Jules she was right by my side. So I thought about her all morning and even when I was getting nominated just now. So it's been a good emotional day, showers of blessing."

Michael Finnegan, UDP Candidate - Mesopotamia
"I am getting at the end of my career. I am getting older. I am now 65. The next election I will be 70. I am at the end of the trail now. When I was in there it was emotional. You can feel all the jitters in my stomach."

Jules Vasquez
"At this late stage?"

Michael Finnegan, UDP Candidate - Mesopotamia
"At this late stage in my career, because you see you soon will be parting and you will be parting with people that you loved, that you have worked for, people that love you. They have contributed to my life as a human being and I have contributed to their life as a human being. It is so sweet. Dealing with people is one of the sweetest things in life. I love people."

Jules Vasquez
"You feel this is the last time you will be nominated?"

Michael Finnegan, UDP Candidate - Mesopotamia
"I can swear to all the heavens that I believe this is the last time."

As you heard earlier, Said Musa also said this is his last nomination. For both he and Finnegan, we'll have to wait and see.
