Sustainable Energy Showcase
posted (November 11, 2015)

It's Caricom Energy Week – and – in it's final pre-election gasp - the now dismantled Ministry of Energy, Science & Technology and Pubic Utilities organized what's called an energy expo. It's an effort to raise awareness about sustainable energy sources as a key to sustainable development. We found out more form the organizer:…

Ryan Cob - Energy Officer, Ministry of Energy

"We're inviting the general public and schools to come in and learn about the energy sector. We'll be having different booths by Pro Solar, BECOL, DFC, BNE as to educate one, the school children about energy sector but because we're bringing all the public to one general location we also needed to have a way for people to finance these types of things. These technologies are relatively expensive so that's why we've invited the DFC along here as well at the expo because they have a line of credit so as to support these type of technology and activities. It's a one stop shopping centre basically that we're providing here today. It's economic that's driving us, so all the interventions, all of the recommendation that we are doing; yes policy helps to motivate it but it's economics that actually drives it."

It was a one-day event.
