She served as Chairman of the KHMH board of Governors from June 2012, and today after an action packed 31 month stint - Chandra Nisbet-Cansino announced to her board that she was stepping down.
She sent out a statement today saying, quote, "I am graciously stepping down to make way for a new Chairman who, I am certain, will do a good job and with whom I will work to ensure a smooth transition."
That new chairman we are told is UDP stalwart and attorney Marilyn Williams. Nisbet-Cansino was asked to resign after the government changed - even though her appointment as Chairman had recently been renewed.
We say Nisbet Cansino had an action packed stint because she had to deal with the cases of the dead babies at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and staff discontent over no raise of pay. In the latter case, she openly advocated for staff, which may have earned her disfavor with the political directorate. Best reports say she was asked to move over for Williams - who put in serious work for her party in the last election - while Nisbet did not.
