World AIDS Day: Let’s Talk About Sex
posted (December 1, 2015)
Usually for young people, discussions about sex and sexually transmitted diseases are confined to Health Science class. In most cases, it's not freely addressed by parents at home and when it is, the "touchy subject" is usually approached more delicately. But today the coordinators of the National HIV/AIDS Youth Symposium said sexuality and sexual practices must be thoroughly explored. The symposium was held at the UB Jaguar Auditorium in Belmopan and Courtney Weatherburne was there. She found out just how complex and "multilayered" talking about sex can be.

Based on statistics, there were 221 new HIV cases in 2014 and for this year so far from January to June, there has been 98 new cases of HIV. Young people between the age of 15 and 24 are considered at highest risk.
