Dean Street Drainage Woes Slightly Eased after Sidewalks Smashed
posted (December 2, 2015)
Last week Friday we showed you Mesopotamia Area Representative Michael Finnegan railing against City Hall for the drainage problems on Dean Street. That street hasn't drained off in months – and ever time a high tide comes- it's an ankle high nuisance to the residents. So Finnegan named and shamed city hall – begging them to clear the drains. This week, that has meant taking a jackhammer to the sidewalks – and when we visited the area today we saw that one whole block of sidewalk from West Canal to Plues street had been uncovered. They did that to get to the drains which were very clogged we are told. When we saw the street today, it was dry – which is a rare event – but we'll keep monitoring it – along with the high tide, which comes in early tomorrow morning.
