OW Cops Made Major Weed Bust Valued At Over Quarter-Mil

Authorities in Orange Walk made a major drug bust over the weekend. Acting on intelligence, police intercepted and confiscated 9 parcels containing suspected compressed marijuana weighing a total of 183 pounds. This has an estimated value of over $300 thousand dollars! Officer Commanding Orange Walk Police Formation Assistant Superintendent Selwyn Tillett told us more.

"On Sunday 3rd day of January about midday Orange Walk police formation quick response team were conducted mobile patrol on the feeder off the Philip Goldson Highway between mile 42 and 43 where they met two male persons in the area. A search in the vicinity resulted in the discovery of 9 bales of rectangular packages covered with a black plastic bag. Police made checks and found out that the bales contained suspected cannabis. Both persons that were found in the vicinity were arrested and escorted to the Orange Walk Town police station. At the station the drugs were weighed and they total 83.3 kilograms."

A very prominent feature of these parcels is the large "J" depicted on all 9 blocks of cannabis. Police say they have reason to suspect it is connected to one of the Mexican Cartels. Two persons have since been detained pending charges for drug trafficking. Police continue their investigations.
