What General Will Tell Wil
posted (April 27, 2016)

And while the General isn’t particularly concerned with the Guatemalan troop build-up along the Belize Guatemala western border, he is concerned about Wil Maheia and the Territorial Volunteers going down the Sarstoon on Saturday.  The General, along with the Coast Guard Commander and Foreign Affairs staff are meeting with Maheia on Thursday.  He told us what his message to will be:…

Brig. Gen. David Jones, Commander - BDF
"Well we're trying to go and appeal to him in regards to reason. We are aware of his passion, we are aware of his patriotism but I believe that reasoning and logic in regards to the issues that have been evolving due to the shooting incident he would be able to listen to us. We are not going to stop Belizeans, we are not going to stop him, we're just going to try and ask him and reason for him to give us an opportunity to try and workout the situation peacefully. Details of that interview or meeting will come out based on the question he has and I believe we will be able to convince him but it’s up to him. If we can unit and joining together as one nation it’s going to be the best but if we have different people, different organisations opposing each other we're not going to solve the issue."

We’ll tell you how that meeting went on tomorrow night’s news…
