Last week we told you about the post-convention rumbling within the United Democratic Party. And the biggest quake came from two women who were fired from the office of Area Representative Beverly Castillo. One of those women was Elena Kerr. Now as we told you in the latter part of last week, Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley hired Elena Kerr, after she was fired by Hon. Castillo. And as you know Mayor Bradley supported Faber in the convention. But today when we asked him about this arrangement he was completely dismissive:

"It’s not an issue which we are making any statement against any person. I am mindful of the importance of jobs to people within our community and the city council through transparent means tries to ensure if we're holding interview and so forth that we can accommodate people with jobs so that I don't really have any comment in relation to that. Again I have tremendous respect for the Hon. Bev Castillo, I think that she's doing a good job and I know that politics is very difficult for most person. I myself have experienced that and it's not something that we really have a statement or comment one."

"But did you accommodate Ms. Kerr because you felt she was let go in such an unjust way?"

"I don't want to make any comments in relations to that. I know that the Hon. Beverly Castillo is somebody who she has her reasons, she is somebody who I am friends with; I don't want to speak in relation to anything concerning that. I can tell you that Ms. Kerr submitted an application, we followed our protocols; I can also tell you that the UDP is a united party, we work together. Notwithstanding we've had disagreements in the past and I'm sure that we will have disagreements going forward but we're a united party. The Hon. Castillo would have had reasons for what she did, I don't know what those reasons are, I don't know what the situation was with her and Ms. Kerr so I can speak on that is absolutely no way."
