High Level Military Meeting In Belize: Guats, US, Bze

It didn't get a lot of publicity, but this week, military leaders from the United States and Guatemala had a tripartite meeting. Brigadier General David Jones met with the US Admiral Kurt Walter Tidd, Commander of Southern Command, and Major General Juan Manuel Perez Ramirez to discuss strategies for ensuring cooperation and peace in the region. Today Felix Enriquez, CEO of the Ministry of Defense, gave us more details:

The military leaders also spoke about the possibility of joint training exercises and the role of the armed forces in the security of the entire region. Admiral Tidd, along with US Ambassador Carlos Moreno, also donated $15,000 US dollars in cleaning supplies to NEMO to assist in the relief efforts after Hurricane Earl, part of US$215,000 pledged by US Southern Command to restock NEMO's warehouses in preparation for another disaster.
