Police Patrols Stymie Port Troublemakers
posted (October 3, 2016)
But stevedore Raymond Rivers kind of sent out his own informal release last week when he said that the port would be shut down. And this weekend a little bird told the media that we should be out on Caesar Ridge Road at the entrance to the Port at 5:00 am for some direct industrial action. All the major media houses showed up to see….nothing much. It was just business as usual at the port - with quite a few police patrols in rotation.

Today, the Southside commander told us that they have to be on guard against opportunists trying to use the teachers' cause to start trouble:...

Jules Vasquez, 7News
"There are other who might be opportunist. Are you all also concern about those people trying to use the teachers cause to start trouble?"

ACP Chester Williams, Commander - Southside
"Exactly my point Jules. We saw what took place in 2005. The teachers were very peaceful and there were some people who for their own personal agenda went beyond and caused problems and we must be proactive is what we do."
